Quiz night raises £282

We had fabulous support for our Quiz night fundraiser at the London Inn in Shaldon on 8th March and we are delighted to share that we raised an amazing £282 for Volunteering in Health!
 
It was a really fun evening and thank you to everyone who came along and supported the quiz and raffle.
 
We have a few people to thank for making the evening such a success!
 
Our thanks go to Nicki and Paul for their hard work in writing and hosting the quiz, to Jeannette for doing the raffle and to Chrissy for co-ordinating the prizes.
 
Thanks to Tim and the team at the London Inn, Shaldon and also to all the local businesses who donated raffle prizes.
 
All the money raised from this fundraiser will help us to continue supporting our local community to live happily and independently and we truly appreciate your support.

 



VIH Supporter wins £25,000 jackpot!

 
We have a jackpot winner! One very lucky VIH supporter has scooped the top prize of £25,000 in the Teignbridge Lottery for Communities.
 
Huge congratulations to the winner and thank you for supporting VIH with your ticket!
 
The community lottery has been running since 2022 and tickets cost just £1 per week to be in the draw to win fantastic prizes and 60% of the ticket price goes to a local good cause of your choice. If you would like to play the local lottery, go to Teignbridge Lottery to sign up!



Volunteer Christmas Celebration

Teignmouth Sings for ViH

We are really excited to share that the wonderful Teignmouth Sings group have chosen ViH as their nominated charity for their Christmas concert at St Michael’s Church in Teignmouth on 13th December 🎄🎶

The concert starts at 2.30pm and tickets are available in advance from Ashleigh Way Post office and Teign Music, or you can buy them on the door.

As a thank you for nominating us as the charity for this year, ViH are giving each child attending the concert a free raffle ticket into a draw and the lucky winner will take home this Snow Bear for Christmas 🎄

Recycle your used ink cartridges!

Are you looking for somewhere local where you can recycle your used ink cartridges?  We now have a ‘recycle4charity’ collection box at the ViH office at Teignmouth Hospital.
 
Please drop your used ink cartridges in to us during our opening hours (Mon-Thurs 10-3pm. Friday 10-2pm).
We will get donations from recycle4charity for every eligible cartridge which is recycled so you will also be helping us to raise funds!

** Note: we cannot accept toner/laser cartridges. If in any doubt what type of cartridges we can accept, please check the ‘wanted list’ on the recycle4charity website.



Alice Cross Christmas Fayre

We had a fabulous day on 15th November 2025 at the Christmas Fayre with our friends at The Alice Cross Centre.
 
There was lots of fun and Christmas cheer with loads of stalls and some live entertainment getting everyone into the Christmas spirit (albeit quite early being in November!)
 
A huge thank you to everyone who volunteered on the ViH and Brighter Days stall with us.



Community Transport Week 2025

We’re onboard for Community Transport Week 2025!

This week we’re joining communities across the UK in celebrating the incredible impact of #communitytransport 🚗🚐    We are so proud of our volunteer transport team, both our amazing drivers and the office team – and this year they have been nominated for a Stars of Teignbridge award.  Well Done team!

The friendly VIH Transport team provides a much needed service to our community, helping to ensure that local residents can get to their vital medical appointments.

Over the last year, our amazing Transport team have helped over 1000 people!


 
 
Our transport team regularly get together for a breakfast meeting where they have the opportunity to share feedback from drives and receive updates from the team.

Brighter Days turns 2 today!

Our Brighter Days group are celebrating their 2nd birthday today!
 
Brighter Days is a peer support group that has been set up by Volunteering in Health and HOPE Volunteers, available to individuals who have attended a HOPE Programme (facilitated by VIH). The group meet on a weekly basis in Teignmouth, everyone is welcomed with friendly faces, a listening ear and hot drink.
 
Thank you so much to all our volunteers who help to run the group every week and have made this such a success.

Mark your calendars for Friday 18th July 2025, as The Masonic Hall in Teignmouth hosts a Quiz Night in aid of the Worshipful Master’s chosen charities:

 🧡 Alzheimer’s Research UK

📍 Venue: The Masonic Hall, Hollands Road, Teignmouth
 🕢 Time: Doors open at 7:30pm for an 8:00pm start
 💷 Entry: £5 per person (includes buffet!)
 🍺 Bar: Open all evening!

Whether you’re a trivia buff or just in it for the laughs and buffet, this promises to be a fantastic evening in support of two important causes. Gather your friends, brush up on your general knowledge, and come along for a night of fun and fundraising!



STARS OF TEIGNBRIDGE 2025

Who are your Stars of Teignbridge?

This November, we are excited to be part of the Stars of Teignbridge Awards Ceremony for the second year running, to celebrate the volunteers and community organisations that make Teignbridge such a wonderful place to live, work and visit.

You can find out more about the local voluntary sector in the Thriving Teignbridge Report. This is based around the themes from the Vision of Volunteering, which also form the categories for the awards.

The awards ceremony will be held on Friday 7ᵗʰ November at 6:30pm for 7:00pm at Pavilions Teignmouth. Tickets are £10, which includes a welcome drink, canapes, and the entertainment from comedian Tom Glover and singer Ollie Stevens.
